The Pearl Izumi SynchroFrame Float is designed for the neutral runner who wants a smooth, fast and efficient ride.
I found the Float to be an efficient training shoe that runs like a lightweight trainer. The Float has a smooth ride, superior cushioning and the seamless upper is a definite plus. I have used the shoes for both short and long runs; on sidewalks and on country roads. I have enjoyed the shoes so much, I can be seen working in them at Medved.
The Guide is a stability shoe for the over pronator who wants a smooth, stable and comfortable ride.
I've been running in the Pearl Izumi SynchroGuide running shoe for a few weeks now and am extremely impressed by the cushioning and stability. I've tried Pearl's shoes for the three short years that they have been in production and the SynchroGuide is by far the best cushioned. It also has a high level of pronation control that will work for both the moderate to pretty severe overpronator.
Definitely on par with the intended competition: Asics's Kayano and Saucony's Hurricane.
The Seek provides the trail runner with great cushioning with a stable platform for great off road running.
For most of 2005, I have sought out the most technical, challenging and sloppiest trails I could find and the Pearl Izumi Seek has carried me through most of what I could find. Two trail marathons and much training later, I give the Seek a thumbs up for its unique fit, versatility on trails (and roads) and stable ride on uneven terrain.
The seamless upper was comfortable right out of the box; with no pressure points at all. The Synchro Frame is tuned for my low arches and the moderate pronator. Most of us have to run a few miles to get to the trail head, no worries with the Seek and plush cushioning. The tread could be slightly more aggessive for extreme muddy conditions, a minor negative for what is otherwise a winner.

The GVH/Medved Triple Crown Race Series has now been completed. The series consisted of the Medved Lilac 10k, the Medved 5K to Cure ALS and the Ten Ugly Men 5K. Age group winners received a Medved gift certificate and free entry into either next year's Medved 5K to Cure ALS 5K or next year's Ten Ugly Men 5K.
