Photo Restoration

Digital technology can make old photographs new again

If you're like most people, chances are that you have some heirloom photographs in your family that have a personal and historical value far beyond what your homeowner's insurance thinks they're worth. Many of them may have been folded, torn or otherwise damaged over the years, even if it's only fading caused by exposure to ultraviolet light or airborne pollutants. And of course the negatives are long gone so there's no way to get a replacement printed...

Now these old, cherished photographs can be scanned and digitally restored and printed using state-of-the-art technology. You can often get enlargements bigger than the original. And your family's treasured photo will also be preserved in digital form on a CD-ROM which can be copied and sent to as many relatives as you want, in effect creating multiple "digital negatives" for everyone.

Photo restoration is an art as much as a science. The techniques involved are both complex and subtle and one should never take shortcuts when dealing with treasured memories and irreplacable heirlooms. If you have a photo that needs restoration and the result is important to you, contact me today. All work is done on an individual, custom basis and is priced according to the extent of the work needed and the amount of time required. Every print is treated with the care and respect I would give one of my own family heirlooms. Each restoration is done individually, painstakingly, by hand, not through automated processes like the big-volume Internet operations. A firm quotation will be given before any work is started. Needless to say, your original will be returned in the same condition it was received.
