Cover of the 2008-9 PDML Photo Annual — available now
It started as an offhand suggestion of the kind that appears so frequently on mailing lists — one that generates a lot of excitement for a couple of days and then disappears without any action being taken: Why not publish an annual photo book to showcase the work of PDML (Pentax-Discuss Mail List) members? Only this time, a few hardy souls latched onto the idea and wouldn't let it slip away.

The result is this book, containing the work of photographers in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Norway, Israel, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, Serbia, Iceland, the Philippines, Italy, Hungary and India. Their work encompasses every photographic style under the sun: urban documentary shots, expansive landscapes, portraits, sports, macro, abstract, fashion, travel, wildlife and combinations of many of the above. Some defy categorization. All speak volumes about the talent and imagination of their creators.
This 8 x 10-inch book contains 120 pages of the best photographic work of PDML members for the year, plus the infamous PDML Quotation list.

Hardcover Version and More:

• Can I get a hardcover version, you ask?
If you buy though the Blurb.com online store (using the "Purchase" button at left), you can choose between paperback, hardcover and "Image-wrap", a hardcover book which has the cover image actually printed onto the cover and is much more durable — and classy-looking — than a dust jacket version. All books ordered through the Blurb web site are the "Premium Paper" versions — printed on heavyweight, satin-finish paper. (Contact me if you would like to order one printed on standard-paper, for about $4.00 less.)
