Lichen and Leaves

A reminder that, when shooting landscapes, it's advisable to occasionally look down and see what's at your feet. I was walking the trail around Salem Lake in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with some friends in the late fall. I stopped to re-tie a shoelace and noticed this fallen branch beside the path.

I had been shooting landscapes with a color intensifying filter in an attempt to liven up a dull scene and I didn't think to remove the filter for this shot. I actually had to tone down the color to get the image you see here.
