Night Sky Over Grandfather Mountain

By the time Doug and I had finished judging the photo contest on Saturday night it was dark. But the sky was the clearest I remember ever having seen it at GFM so I decided to have a go at some star photography. I took this shot shortly before cloud cover came in – you can see it just coming over the mountain peaks here – and put an end to the fun. 12-24mm zoom at 12mm; 30 seconds at f/5.6 and ISO 1600. I'd be grateful if anyone could identify the planet (I'm assuming that bright spot at mid-upper left is a planet) in this photo. It's almost directly northeast and the shot was taken at 11:00 p.m.
